My Kid’s Lemonade

by | May 26, 2020 | Kids, Product Spotlight

I don’t know about you, but my kids always want fun drinks – lemonade, juice boxes, etc. I don’t blame them. I am sort of the same way and while I love plain water, I actually get tired of it all day every day.

A year back I was introduced to a local KC company that makes drinking healthy easy.  They have come to a couple of my local Embrace Wellness Events and I am now a recurring customer!

Introducing: Sour Lemon Beverage Co.

Sour Lemon Beverage Co. is a dual mom owned small business local to Kansas City. They make organic, low calorie, apple cider vinegar drinks that taste amazing! Callen and Aimee have a passion for keeping people healthy by making good-for-you-foods actually taste good.

Say what?! They make delicious flavored drinks with the base being apple cider vinegar. Yup! And a bonus is there is less than 1g sugar in a serving because they sweeten with stevia.

So back to apple cider vinegar (acv). Why would you want to drink ACV?

According to Sour Lemon Beverage Co, the reported benefits of apple cider vinegar are as follows:

  • Reduces cravings
  • Balances blood sugar levels
  • Good source of probiotics and enzymes
  • Powerful antioxidant
  • Boosts immune function
  • Helps with cholesterol
  • Enhances the body’s natural detoxification process
  • Improves the body’s ability to absorb nutrients
  • Inhibits candida and other funguses
  • Boosts stomach acid
  • Assists in healthy weight loss

One of the most popular reasons people consume apple cider vinegar is to help with acid production. But why would you need to do that?

According to Functional Medicine practitioner Chris Kresser, reflux is caused by increased pressure in the stomach resulting in a malfunction of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). The increase in pressure is caused by bacterial overgrowth and malabsorption of carbohydrates, both of which are precipitated by low stomach acid.

So to say again. Low stomach acid may be causing you acid reflux.

There has been evidence based research supporting the benefits of apple cider vinegar in helping with increasing stomach acid levels in as little as 1 teaspoon – 1 tablespoon.

How do we drink it?

To make a 16 oz single serving, mix 1/4 cup (2oz) of concentrate to 14oz water. There is about 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar per serving.

For myself and my kids, we don’t use quite that much. Just add a splash to some water to flavor it up.

Our number one family favorite is the Blueberry Lemonade. We have tried and like them all!

If you want to check them out, they are offering 15% off when you use the code EMBRACE at checkout.

And I believe they ship also!
