My Top Three Kitchen Appliances + One To Skip

Lets get cooking. It is easy to fall into the trap that you need this appliance for this and this appliance for that and then soon enough your kitchen is overflowing with big bulky appliances that you don’t have room for.

Today, I am sharing the top appliances in my kitchen that I use regularly and recommend and the one I regret and think you can do without.

Blender

We have a Blendtec blender and like it. I use it almost daily for smoothies and then also use it for nut butters, nut milks and general processing. The one I own I can’t find, but a similar model can be found here. My only complaint is I wish the jar was glass!

Instant Pot

I was really late to the game on this because it intimidated me. My slow cooker needed to be upgraded so I bit the bullet and asked for an Instant Pot for my birthday.  I am not a pro and am getting used to it, but have used it many times for various things – dried beans, rice, whole chicken, other meats and hard boiled eggs. This is the model I have, but here is a quick model comparison so you can find the right one for you.

*If you don’t want an Instant Pot, I think a slow cooker is a must have to help with easy meals.

Food Processor

A good quality food processor is hard to come by and one that doesn’t leach chemicals is more difficult. Since most food processors, and to my knowledge all large ones, come in plastic, it was important to me to find the best quality one when my old one broke. Mamavation is a woman I follow that does extensive research on products. She did a very lengthy post on various kitchen appliances that I have book marked and reference as I upgrade appliances. The particular one I choose, I love. It is large, super quiet and uses a plastic that doesn’t leach.

What about that one appliance I could do without? Well, there are a lot I have bought over the years and ended up not needing, but most recently I feel into the trap that I needed an air fryer. Have you heard of these?

Two reasons I don’t need it:

  1. Everything we have had using it, I can easy do in the oven and prefer it from the oven. It also don’t really save time and actually probably adds more time because it is one more thing to clean.
  2. I am not afraid of fat, which is the whole reason people like it (cooking without the oil)

Not sure why I fell for this, but hey – good marketing I guess!
